Hello!
My name is Amy Taylor, and I’m a freelance culture critic, specialising in theatre, film and TV.
Writing
My work has appeared in: The Observer, The Guardian, The Journal, Caledonian Mercury, Across the Arts, The List, Fest, The Skinny, The National, What’s On Stage Scotland, The Public Reviews, TVBomb and Cultbox.
In September 2016 I became The Skinny‘s Theatre Editor. I also write the theatrical agony aunt column, Ask Auntie Trash.
I was also The Journal’s Theatre Editor from 2009 – 2012, and the Scotland Editor at The Public Reviews from 2012 – 2013.
I’ve also appeared on STV’s prime time film review show, Moviejuice.
You can see a selection of my writing in my portfolio.
The Taylor Trash is where I record my misadventures in arts journalism from libel threats, to bad PRs to capturing the most frequently said statements uttered by critics. If you’re new to the site, and not sure where to start, then this post is a great place to begin.
Other Work
In addition to writing and editing, I am also on the judging panel for the Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland.
The Taylor Trash was shortlisted in the Arts and Culture category at the UK Blog Awards 2014.
